Mustafa is based across our Broadmeadows and Melbourne offices and regularly appears on behalf of clients in the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court, as well as other suburban and regional courts throughout the State.
With a strong commitment to protecting the rights and interests of those facing criminal allegations, Mustafa understands the significant power imbalance that often exists between individuals and prosecuting authorities.
He is dedicated to guiding clients through every stage of the criminal justice process, providing clear, practical advice and steadfast representation in what can often be a complex and overwhelming legal environment.
His approachable manner, combined with his strong legal acumen, enables him to effectively advocate for his clients while ensuring they remain informed and supported throughout their matter.
Mustafa previously worked as an Associate in the Criminal Division of the County Court of Victoria, where he worked closely with Judges in the management and conduct of complex criminal proceedings. In this role, he undertook extensive legal research, assisted in the preparation of sentencing remarks, drafted court orders, and gained invaluable insight into the judicial decision-making process. This experience provides him with a unique perspective on
criminal litigation and the operation of the courts.
Prior to his time at the County Court, Mustafa was employed as a Review Officer with the Department of Justice and Community Safety. In that capacity, he was involved in statutory decision-making processes on behalf of the Department, further developing his understanding of government administration, regulatory frameworks, and procedural fairness. Mustafa’s connection with the firm commenced before his admission to practice, when he volunteered as a Paralegal assisting solicitors on a range of complex criminal law matters.
Through this experience, he developed a strong foundation in legal research and case preparation. During his law studies, Mustafa volunteered at the Northern Community Legal Centre, where he assisted solicitors with court matters, prepared legal documents, and conducted client intake interviews.
Mustafa holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from La Trobe University and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Leo Cussen Centre for Law. He is fluent in both English and Turkish, enabling him to effectively assist and communicate with a diverse range of clients.
