Shaun is an accredited criminal law specialist and partner of Doogue + George. Shaun has practised exclusively in criminal law for the last 13 years.
“Receiving a criminal charge will inevitably cause anxiety and distress to an accused; usually brought on by their unfamiliarity with the legal system, and the uncertainty of the court process and outcome. It’s a privilege to represent a client at Court, and I genuinely enjoy the task of carefully preparing and presenting a client’s case, and I strive, to the best of my ability to achieve the outcome that’s most important to them”
Shaun has extensive experience preparing all indictable and summary criminal offences. He is particularly experienced in preparing contested and non-contested cases in the Magistrates’ Court, however his experience also extends to the superior Courts (County and Supreme Courts of Victoria).
Shaun currently runs our Heidelberg office, an office he opened in December 2008. Shaun’s practice predominantly services the Heidelberg Magistrates’s Court, however he attends all Courts across Victoria.
Shaun has experience in the community legal service sector, having volunteered at the Broadmeadows, Whittlesea and Greensborough Community Legal Centres from 2004 – 2014, but stopped due to competing demands for his time, and a growing family.
Shaun is a co-author of our ebook on Victorian court processes. The ebook maps out all the processes involved whenever criminal cases are heard at the Magistrates’, County, and Supreme Courts; both for pleas of guilty and contested matters. You can download a free copy of the ebook here: Victorian Courts Mapping the Court Process.
Shaun is also an author for Practical Guidance online legal resource published by Lexis Nexis. Shaun co-authored the Juvenile Justice subtopic of this publication.
