Molly Deighton is a Senior Associate at the firm and appears in on a daily basis in the Magistrates’ and County Courts of Victoria on pleas of guilty, pleas of not guilty, committal hearings, bail applications and appeals.
Molly has instructed in indictable matters before the County Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. Molly is committed to her clients running contested matters, determined to have their stories heard and presented before the courts.
Molly completed a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne. During her studies, she sought opportunities to pursue her passion for social justice and volunteered for the Prison Legal Education & Assistance (PLEA) Project. Molly was responsible for this program at the Melbourne Assessment Prison (MAP), and conducted weekly legal education seminars to those in custody. This role gave her insight into importance of all individuals having access to information and assistance to best navigate the criminal justice system.
Molly came to Doogue + George from the Supreme Court of Victoria where she worked as a Judge’s associate in the Criminal Division. In this role, she completed research and assisted with the drafting of judgements for a variety of criminal cases, including matters of homicide, terrorism and slavery.
Molly has volunteered her services to the Fitzroy Legal Service, both as an intern in their Family Law & Family Violence team and also with the Night Service.
Molly is committed to understanding the personal circumstances of each of her clients, ensuring they receive the best possible outcome.
