With close to 20 years experience as a criminal defence lawyer, Kate provides legal advice and representation to clients in all criminal law jurisdictions across Victoria. Committed to suburban legal practice, Kate is based in the western suburbs at our Sunshine office.
Kate appears regularly as a solicitor-advocate in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria representing clients charged with a broad range of criminal offences, from simple drink driving matters to violence and complex fraud cases. Her practice includes the conduct of County and Supreme Court trials and Court of Appeal cases, working closely with Counsel for the best possible outcome for her clients.
Kate has extensive experience assisting both respondents and applicants to Family Violence and Personal Safety Intervention Order Applications. She is the co-author of our e-book Understanding Family Violence Intervention Orders and has contributed numerous blog articles on the subject including Contested Family Violence Intervention Orders and Children and Evidence in Family Violence Intervention Orders.
Kate enjoys a growing practice assisting clients with regulatory applications and submissions. She has a particular interest in assisting clients required to respond to a Working with Children Check Assessment Notice. She also understands the restrictive nature of obligations under the Sex Offender Registration Act and assists clients on the register seeking to make an application to suspend their reporting obligations.
Kate takes pride in providing professional and trustworthy legal representation. She listens to her clients with care and respect as they explain their unique situation. She offers comprehensive, plain-language legal and strategic advice. She takes particular care to ensure that her clients understand their rights and options at each stage of the criminal justice system, ensuring that they are well-informed and feel fully supported during the Court process.
Kate is a member of the Criminal Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria.
