Josh Harris appears regularly at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court as well as suburban courts including Heidelberg and Broadmeadows. Josh came to Doogue + George from the County Court of Victoria.
Josh appears for clients on pleas of guilty and not guilty as well as assisting clients with bail applications. He pays particular attention to writing submissions that speak on his client’s behalf in order to get the best possible outcome at court.
Josh believes everyone deserves to have their day in Court and works tirelessly to assist his clients in contested summary hearings and contested intervention order applications. Careful and well-prepared cross-examination is the key to winning any contest and Josh’s attention to detail and quick-thinking in Court can assist you in achieving a just outcome.
Josh was admitted to legal practice in February 2019 after completing a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne. Prior to joining Doogue + George, Josh was an associate to HH Judge Lyon who worked exclusively in the Criminal Division. He completed research, assisted with judgement writing and organised pleas and trials for a wide variety of indictable criminal offences, including sexual offending, child pornography, dangerous/culpable driving and drug trafficking. Josh was Senior Associate to the Criminal Reserve List following his associateship and was involved in the high level administration, planning and finalising of all criminal matters listed in the County Court. Josh’s experience in the Courts give him a unique perspective on the inner workings of the justice system in Victoria and the attitudes and expectations of the decision makers who will be deciding your case.
