Cosette Schilling

Cosette is based in our Broadmeadows and Melbourne offices and regularly appears on behalf of clients at the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court as well as other courts across Melbourne.

Cosette SchillingBefore joining Doogue + George, Cosette worked as a Judge’s Associate within the Criminal Division at the County Court of Victoria. In this role, Cosette provided legal and administrative support to judicial officers and assisted in a range of matters including appeals and jury trials. Cosette attended various circuit locations across regional Victoria, supported judicial officers with the management of the specialist lists including sexual offences and complex trials, and gained experience in Koori Court proceedings.

Cosette has previously volunteered at community legal centres, assisting clients through summary criminal proceedings including traffic offences and intervention order matters.

Studying a Master of Laws from Monash University allowed Cosette to expand her strong interest in social justice, human rights, and criminal law reform, through specialised studies in criminal law and forensics. Cosette has also completed a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Media from the University of Adelaide, and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law before being admitted to practice in May 2020.

Cosette understands that the criminal law process can be a daunting and stressful experience, and that no two experiences with the criminal justice system are the same. Cosette is dedicated to assisting clients navigate the complex legal system by approaching each matter with diligence, compassion, and professionalism.
