Annamiek has extensive and varied criminal law experience. Prior to joining Doogue + George, Annamiek was an Associate to a Judge at the County Court of Victoria. Her Judge presided over criminal matters only. This exposed her to a vast number of criminal matters and hearings. Before working at the County Court, Annamiek worked at a firm which specialized in criminal defence work for nine years. She also interned for Victoria Legal Aid, the Criminal Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria, and volunteered at the Moonee Valley Legal Service for several years.
Annamiek prides herself on working hard to get the best possible outcome. When she meets a client, she often discusses possible outcomes in terms of gold, silver and bronze. She loves a challenge, and goes for gold with every case and client. Annamiek particularly prides herself on getting charges withdrawn and helping clients get Diversion so they do not get a criminal record. Annamiek has achieved great results through careful and specific case strategy, genuine understanding of client instructions and productive communications with the prosecution and the Courts.
The benefit that Annamiek offers her clients is that she takes the time to carefully listen to their instructions and devise a strategy tailored to their individual needs. Annamiek realises that different people have unique expectations and provides bespoke representation. By having Annamiek represent you, you can expect to understand the process, risks and options. You will benefit from her careful planning, thoughtful advice and open communication. Annamiek has written articles on client instructions which are published on our website – Can I Tell My Lawyer Everything?
Annamiek prides herself on listening to her clients, understanding their story and circumstances and using this information to advocate for them to achieve the best possible outcome. She understands how reassuring and comforting it is for clients to be represented by a competent and knowledgeable lawyer and prides herself on putting her client’s minds at ease.
