Despite the widespread use of Cannabis in Australia, in Victoria, it is a criminal offence to possess or use Cannabis or Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – regardless of the quantity or purpose.
The penalty for cannabis possession in small quantities does not usually involve imprisonment where the quantity is less than 50g of Cannabis or 1g of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
