Depositions refer to the copies of all the materials that are collated at the end of the committal proceedings. Also referred to as Deps, they are prepared by prosecutors (including the transcript of the committal and documents tendered at committal). The Deps are then submitted to the Criminal Trial Listings Directorate (CTLD), and the CTLD then sends them to your defence lawyers.
Depositions are often prepared in a CD format. It must also be noted that the page numbering of depositions and Hand up Brief are different. Hence it is very important that the barrister gets a copy of the depositions.
