It is necessary to contact the Prosecutors to arrange a date for the bail application. We often call the Informant first and find out what dates are suitable for them. This then makes it easier to arrange with the Prosecution. We try to fit it around their shifts as much as possible as our first aim is to get the earliest available date. If they are not available for a long time then they will have to nominate someone else to appear at the bail application.
Once we have suitable dates worked out, we then contact the Committal Coordinator and arrange a date for the bail application that suits the Court.
It is important to get these sort of steps right as you want the whole focus of the process to be on getting the person out of custody An argument about when the bail application will be heard is not helpful.
