Bail Application for Trafficking (Large Commercial Quantity)

Bail ApplicationOur client was charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of a number of different drugs. It was alleged that he was part of a larger syndicate involved in regular distribution in Victoria. A search warrant was executed on our client’s home when he was not present and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The client contacted our office for advice and representation at a bail application for the Trafficking charge.

Amelia Ramsay acted on his behalf at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court. The exact charge was Trafficking – Large Commercial Quantity.

We arranged a time and place for the record of interview. We made sure to attend with the client to support him through the process and to ensure that it was conducted expeditiously, as well as to assist him if any questions arise during the interview. Being with the client during the interview allowed us to obtain further details not included during the recorded process. We were able to collect information that proved to be useful during a bail application and we also further understood matters which might assist the client in getting a positive outcome.

In order to help the client, we made sure to secure a place for him at a drug rehabilitation centre. We also supported and responded to questions from his family members and arranged a surety and briefing counsel to appear at the bail application. The magistrate was satisfied that all these measures put in place would ensure that the client would appear at court for future hearings and that the risk of re-offending was reduced.

The client’s bail application for Trafficking was granted and he was released from custody to reside at a rehabilitation centre for 3 months.
