Bail Application for Drug and Other Charges – Successful
Our client had been charged with trafficking 12 kilograms of cannabis and possessing a number of drugs as well as prohibited weapons including knives and a handgun. The cannabis was found in our client’s car and his home. An electrical bypass, drying racks, scales, and cannabis plants were also found at our client’s home.
Our client also had warrants out for his arrest in respect of four other matters including a matter for contravening a Community Corrections Order.
We represented the client at the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court to apply for bail. Our client was facing the following charges:
- Drive Disqualified
- Had equipment in connection with a Burglary
- Fail to Answer Bail
- Possess Drug of Dependence
The bail application was successful and our client was granted bail with the support of CISP. This result was made possible because our client’s mother gave evidence that our client could stay with her and that she would supervise him, and because we were able to convince the Magistrate that the evidence in support of trafficking was relatively weak.
