News Time
Our last DOB News update was way back in March and so much has happened since then.
Let’s have a look back over the past three months to reminisce, rejoice, revisit – and perhaps revel.
ADLA
ADLA Conference – Queensland – 31/03/11 – 03/04/11
It seems like so long ago… Somewhere in the midst of a big smooshing together of each of the state’s finest criminal lawyers, there were some great topics covered, new intelligence gained, ideas generated, lots of camaraderie and a little bit of fun.
It was a great opportunity to discuss and derive a collective plan for the direction and future of ADLA and also the setting for the ADLA website group photo which features on the home page. For your viewing pleasure: http://www.adla.com.au/
ADLA Conference – Sydney – Corporate Crime Launch
Now that the dust has settled from the Queensland conference, Sydney will play host to the Corporate Crime Launch event in October. More details will follow.
A New Pascoe
Not quite a logical follow-on from the conference news, but chronologically correct, a big congratulations to Shaun and Marina for the arrival of Jessica who couldn’t wait to start bringing mirth and joy to the Pascoe household, arriving mid-conference.
More New Arrivals
New to our world at Doogue + George, but arriving with less screaming and medical attention, we welcome to our happy fold:
Adam Chernok:
Adam brings us his aptitude in the area of coercive investigations, having previously worked with the Office of Chief Examiner, Victoria Police. Adam is one of the few criminal defence lawyers in the State to have had access to the inner workings of a coercive powers body giving him an insight into complex criminal investigations and investigative techniques. He also likes to sing and has a garden quite overgrown with weeds…
Brent Casey:
Brent is an accredited criminal law specialist, bringing with him over 10 years experience in criminal law. He has worked in criminal law firms in Tasmania and Victoria, however his most recent experience as a sole practitioner has enhanced his skill as a criminal law expert.
Lisa Deiana:
A breath of fresh air and a welcoming face at the reception desk, Lisa joins the Melbourne office, swapping Burgundy Street for whichever shade of madness worn here on the day… Lisa brings to us tales of teenage daughters and has whipped us all into organisational shape.
Of Course – The Law Stuff!
A recent trial and testimonal for Kristina Kothrakis
“I am compelled to advise you of the enormous work ethic Kristina has displayed throughout the preparations and trial. Her diligence and professionalism to all tasks I asked of her, and many she assumed without request demonstrate Kristina is a first class lawyer.
Throughout the case Kristina was actively involved and enthusiastic in ensuring the client’s case was presented in its most favourable light. It was a difficult case which Kristina handled with consummate ease, both with legal matters and being on top of the facts and her dialogue with the client to minimize his stress and concerns.
Further Kristina actively participated in suggestions and tactical discussions demonstrating the complete role a solicitor should adopt, and was not just a note taker.
Put simply I cannot be more effusive in informing you of the great job she did as solicitor and in assisting Counsel.
I look forward to the opportunity of working with Kristina again.”
Says it all, doesn’t it? Well done KK
The Guariglia Result
The High Court knocked back Crown appeal. A great result.
