History of the firm

Bill Doogue and Conor O’Brien were both acting for the Aboriginal Legal Service in the early 1990s as criminal lawyers. They decided that they would start a firm that specialized in criminal law.

The first office was in Broadmeadows. This was followed in 2001 by a Melbourne office and an office was opened in December 2008 at Heidelberg.

Each of the solicitors of Doogue & O’Brien has been employed because they have displayed the skills to fit into the team and also to be a great advocate on their client’s behalf. The majority of our solicitors have been employed after we have approached them to come to work for us. We have done this because we have seen them regularly around the Courts and admired the standard of their work.

We have offices by three of the busiest Court precincts in Melbourne (Melbourne, Broadmeadows and Heidelberg).

In the city office we have Bill Doogue, Paul McClure, Josh Taaffe and Kristina Kothrakis. In Broadmeadows are Conor O’Brien and Cassie Collier. In Heidelberg is Shaun Pascoe.

In total we have seven Solicitors who only handle criminal law matters which makes us one of the largest criminal law practises in Victoria.

All our solicitors regularly appear at all the Victorian Courts.
