Conor O’Brien commenced his legal career as a Barrister and Solicitor in the early 90s. Prior to this he worked in the building and horticultural industries and travelled extensively. Conor brings this experience to his legal practice offering legal advice of the highest standard in a practical, empathetic and understandable way. He has practiced exclusively in criminal law since 1995 and became an accredited criminal law specialist in 2000.
Throughout this period he has demonstrated his commitment to his clients by appearing regularly in County Court and Magistrates’ Courts. Conor also prepares and instructs in Supreme Court matters.
Conor is currently on the Board of the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) which is the governing body of solicitors in Victoria. He was elected to this position by his fellow solicitors.
Conor was the Chair of the Criminal Law Section of the LIV in 2006 and 2007. In his positions with the LIV he has been outspoken in the area of accused’s rights and criminal law reform. Conor runs the Broadmeadows Office of Doogue & O’Brien which is located near the very busy Broadmeadows Magistrate’s Court. Conor is supported by solicitors and friendly approachable staff. This Court services the Outer Northern Suburbs of Melbourne and includes outlying areas such as Wallan, Sunbury and Craigieburn. This Court hears all cases that come from Tullamarine Airport in relation to customs and extradition offences. Conor has therefore vast experience in these specialized areas of law.
