Facts of the Case - Armed robbery
The client was charged with attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm (imitation).
The victim was walking home from the train station when he was set upon by the client and two others.
Results Achieved
The client was a young offender, aged 19 years. He had relatively few prior Court appearances, and was unemployed at the time of the offence.
It was submitted that given his age, and the fact the he was not the 'ringleader' of the armed robbery, playing only a supporting role, that rehabilitation was the dominant factor in sentencing and general deterrence was of lesser importance.
The client had, in the time since the offending, engaged well with Youth Justice services. On the charge of attempted armed robbery, the client was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment, wholly suspended for 18 months. On the possession of a firearm charge we was ordered to undertake a 12 month Community Based Order (CBO).
