CONOR O'BRIEN


Conor O’Brien
is on the Council of the  Law Institute of Victoria and is the former chairperson of the Criminal Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria. That role involves representing the views of Criminal Lawyers and, amongst other things, advocating on their behalf in dealings with Government, the Courts and Legal Aid.

Conor has always practiced exclusively in the field of criminal law. He became a Law Institute Accredited Specialist in 2000.

He appears on a daily basis in the Magistrates’, County and Children's Courts in Victoria in pleas of not guilty/contests, bail applications, appeals and pleas of guilty.

Conor runs the Broadmeadows office of Doogue & O'Brien.

Bill Doogue

Bill Doogue
is an accredited criminal law specialist. He has been a criminal defence lawyer since 1991. He handles trials, committals and pleas of guilty and not guilty.

Bill worked for 2 1/2 years as a lawyer for the Aboriginal Legal Service in the Northern Territory, and has also done appearance work in NSW and South Australia.

He has been on the committee of management of the Broadmeadows Community Legal Centre for ten years.

The database Bill designed "Crimebase" a practice management / precedent base solution won the CCH Legal Technology Award.

Bill runs the Melbourne city office of Doogue & O'Brien.

Paul McClure

 

Paul McClure appears on a daily basis in the Magistrates', County and Children's Courts in Victoria in pleas of not guilty/contests, bail applications, appeals and pleas of guilty.

Prior to coming to the law, Paul worked for 12 years as a registered nurse, predominantly in the area of intensive care nursing, and he brings this knowledge and experience to his work as a criminal defence lawyer.  

Paul also has a degree in Psychology.  

As a solicitor, Paul has had particular experience acting for clients charged with sexual offences.

Shaun Pascoe


Shaun Pascoe is an experienced criminal lawyer with over 5 years post admission experience in the field of criminal law.

Shaun has just opened the Heidelberg Magistrates' Court office for Doogue & O'Brien criminal lawyers.

 

Shaun is admitted to practice as a solicitor of the Supreme Courts of Queensland, Victoria, and the High Court of Australia.

 

In being a criminal lawyer at our office near Heidelberg Magistrates' Court he, on a daily basis provides representation and advice for all indictable and summary charges.

Although, in the main, Shaun has a focus on appearance work at the Heidelberg Magistrates' Court, he also appears regularly at other Magistrates Courts, and the County Court.

Shaun has extensive experience as a defence advocate, and appears regularly in pleas of guilty/not guilty, committal hearings, appeals, bail applications, drivers license restoration.

 

Pre-admission as a solicitor Shaun worked in the Criminal, Civil and Family Law divisions of Legal Aid Queensland.

Post admission, Shaun worked in the Youth Legal Aid division of LAQ, before moving to Melbourne to take up a position as solicitor for Doogue and O'Brien.

 

Shaun also works as a volunteer solicitor with the Broadmeadows Community Legal Service.

Josh Taaffe

Josh Taaffe appears regularly in the Magistrates’, County and Children's Courts in Victoria.

He has appeared in pleas of not guilty and contests, as well as bail applications, appeals and pleas of guilty.

As a solicitor Josh has specialized in handling complex matters including State and Commonwealth Supreme Court trials.

Prior to commencing employment with Doogue & O’Brien he worked at the Fitzroy Legal Service. His work there focused on legal policy and law reform in the areas of Police Accountability and Spent Convictions.

Kristina Kothrakis

Kristina Kothrakis has instructed in a number of criminal trials in the County and Supreme Court. She also appears regularly in the the Magistrates, County and Children's Courts in Victoria in pleas bail applications, appeals and pleas of guilty.

Kristina is based at our city office but appears at all Courts throughout the Melbourne area.

Kristina speaks Greek.
